Update: Electronics travel guide for underwater image makers

The rules regarding the carrying of electronic goods in the cabins of aircraft for some flights into the US or UK have been relaxed today. Flights with Etihad Airways, Emirates Airline and Turkish Airlines no longer have restrictions on them (this is currently pending with the latter into the UK). The ban still affects image makers visiting Egypt’s Red Sea and frequent travelers Saeed Rashid and Terry Steeley have kindly shared their thoughts and strategies for coping with the additional security measures in Egyptian airports for the Wetpixel community.

The Indonesian government has announced that they plan to remove the need for visitors from 30 countries to purchase visas upon arrival. By contrast, the Egyptian government has announced that individual visitors will be required to apply for visas from embassies and consulates prior to travel

Egypt travel warnings issued

The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office is currently advising that foreign citizens should avoid traveling to some areas of Egypt in the light of the current instability. Their advice does not include travel to Red Sea resort areas: “In view of the continued unrest in Egypt, the FCO recommends against all but essential travel to Egypt except for resorts on the Red Sea in South Sinai and those resorts on the Egyptian mainland in Red Sea governorate.
